UJN convened a meeting to tackle and address the rise in sectarian violence and polarised political rhetoric in Pakistan in October 2013. Participants included leading figures from different Islamic movements and political parties. The meeting took place in Bodrum, Turkey over several days and culminated in the Bodrum Declaration. The Bodrum Declaration is a statement of intent from the participants to commit to a future of equitable and tolerant political communication and relations, and to begin processes of addressing the structural problems in Pakistan that have given rise to single identity politics at the expense of addressing the pressing needs of the people.
Further meetings to pursue these goals have taken place in the intervening years. Find the various reports, videos and images of the meetings here, as well as outputs.
